This year was one of my favourite years of Elementary School. We got to do things that we did not get to do in other grades. One of the things I really wanted to do but did not get to do was go to the beach in the afternoon. Only the primarys got to go, which was really sad that we didn’t. One of the things we that the grade 7′s always do is go to the beach, they do that every year. I leave for England THIS Sunday!!! I’m SOOOO excited to leave!! I miss one day of school and the ceremony. I have been waiting to have the ceremony for sooo long and now I can’t go. I will try to skype when I am in England, but I hope I am not really tried and fall asleep in the middle of it.  I am almost all packed and ready. I have some pants and other things i need to pack in my suitcase. I have such a small suitcase the it is getting REALLY full. I hope I have enough room for all my things. Today (25th) is my last day of school (but not for everyone else). I am SOOO happy I have no mare school untill september because I am super tired!!! I am probably sleep in tomorrow (tomorrow is the 26th) untill 9:30/10:00. Yesturday(24th) was my birthday!! I got a scooter which I have been asking for a LONG time, some books, and a card game I really wanted! i am probably going to play the game today (25th).

On Monday we went to the West Van High. We were partnered up with former grade 7 students who now go to West Van High. I was partnered up with Vanessa. We were all partnered up with another grade 7 (unless there was not enough). I was partnered up with Naomi. We walked up to North campus were she showed us around. I only know were wood shop is because outside of it is really noisy. North campus is really hard to find your way around. South campus is not as confusing because it is smaller. My sister goes there and her favorite teacher is Ms.Shen. We sat in on whatever class our partner had. My partner had wood shop so I got to blow the air thing into the whistle she was making. When wood shop was over we went back down to the grade 7 cafeteria were we could by something from there. I bought a cookie and a cream soda. The cream soda tasted really bad (I think it tasted really bad because it was made with splenda). After all the grade 8′s left to go to there next class, the counselor asked us if we had anymore questions she could answer. After that we walked back to the school and had lunch.

Last week was our first week back to school from spring break. We have a lot of assignments due next week, such as French and Socials. I also have a reading assignment due in a couple of weeks and I am almost dine my book. On Wednesday we have our little buddies come up to work on their scrapbooks. Bella wasn’t here, so I had my buddy a to my self. We have not been getting a lot of homework (except for Math, but we usually get some math). We have started a mini book this week for LA and I am about half way through it. I am doing my book on tropical fish. I was going to do mine on dance, until I found that there are mostly sites for buying costumes or signing up for dance. There are lots of sites for buying fish, but there are more sites on tropical fish than there are for dance. There is a grade 7 car wash coming up on May.2, and I am going to try and be there to wash cars. I can not make it for the first shift, but I can probably make it for the second. Mayfair is coming up and I have so far brought in 2 tombola jars. I am volunteering at Mayfair. I am working at the animal farm. Yesterday, 2 players from the BC lions football team came to talk about Earth day and what we can do to help save the planet. I am happy it is the weekend now because I am SOOOO tired!!! I stayed up REALLY  late on Wednesday because my parent are out.

All week our teacher, Ms.Wilson, was sick. So we had a substituteall week. First we had Ms.Simpson from Monday to Thursday, then we had Mrs.Meldrum on Friday. My older sister, Meghan, Birthday was on Wednesday. She turned 14 at 6:28 pm. She got lots of presents I wanted as well, such as a new moon book, and a lego Indeana Jones game. I got her a Cookie book because she likes to bake. She is going to have her party on Saturday. We are going to see Alice in Wonderland, then come back to our house and have cake and such. North Van Had their spring break this week. We do not get our this week, because we had two weeks off for the Olympics. We get our spring break during Easter. The Opening Ceramonies start today for the Paralimpics. Our grade is going to go to two events. Wheelchair curling and sledge hockey. I LOVE sledge hockey! It is SOOOOO fun to watch.

On Wednesday, we went curling. It was our last lesson and we had teams and we got to get prizes. I was with Nicola K, Libby, and Kristen. We only got 3 points, but we weren’t that good. I almost got my rock in the circle, but I didn’t and it was the farthest I ever got it though. On Wednesday we had buddies, we made Valentine bags for our little buddies. I share a buddy with Bella. It was SO much fun! I love buddies! Also on Wednesday, my friend Julia got braces. They look really good on her, but she doesn’t like them. They hooks on the braces always hurt her gums.

Olympic Mascots By Corinna A. Carlson

On Wednesday our kindergarten buddies came up to play mascot games with us on the laptops. Every Wednesday our buddies will come up to the Gr7 room and we have a theme. This week was mascot week with our buddies. I share a buddy with Bella so when we could not find the site, Bella was looking for the site when I was playing with Miga with our buddy. It took us about 10 minutes. When we finally got on, the first thing we did was print out a picture for her to colour when she gets home. Then we played a flying Sumi game a couple of times because we were so bad at it. Then we played a dancing Miga game and a Muk Muk curling game. It was loads of fun! I can’t wait till next Wednesday!

This week we went curling again. I did not fall as much, but I still fell. Next time were going to play a real game using the whole rink and we get prizes. Next week is the FSA’s! We have 4 LA FSA’s and 2 math FSA’s. I can’t wait to do them and get them over with. Were supposed to do them in a 2 week period, but we are doing them in a 1 week period. After that we are going to continue the wiki we started. It is an Olympic wiki for the wiki site about the Olympics. I am doing Canadian Hopefuls with Julia and Bess. I have to find all the pictures while they and getting the info. The pictures are harder than they seem to be.

This week was the first week back to school. I think we got to much homework on the first week of school. They should give us less homework on the first week of school. The good thing about this week was curling. We go four times. Today was the first time we went. It was SOOOO fun (even though I wiped out). When Jisoo was curling the ball down the ice, I wasn’t looking and the rock hit my foot and I fell backwards onto my butt! My butt hurt after that. lol! It was really fun! I can’t wait to go again! WE GET TO MUCH HOMEWORK!! We have science, Wiki, Socials, French (but I finished it), we have math, CAPP, art (but I finished it) and I think (and hope) that is it! It is all due on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. I am going to try do it all on the weekend. We got a reading assignment assigned and it’s due January 29th. We had to choose a book about a real person. I chose Zlata’s Diary, and it is a REALLY sad book (but it is good)!

Today was the day we make Christmas crackers with our kindergarten buddies. The crackers we made are going to our sister school Grandview Elementary, Queen Mary, the Harvest project, Covenant House, and the Union Gospel Mission. The crackers are getting sent to five places. At Grandview, all they get is a Christmas cracker. They get the crackers for their Christmas dinner. After we finished making the Christmas crackers with our buddies, we went outside to play on the playground. Bella’s and my buddy wanted to go on the tire swing sp we went on it. When we were about to get on it, Vanessa and Lydia’s buddy wanted to go on. Then Kristen’s buddy, and then Kat’s and Victoria’s. Soon we had four kindergarten on the tire swing. But Kat’s and Victoria’s buddy kept getting off and on the tire swing. Last Tuesday was the day of the basketball jamboree for the girls. I think we came third because we lost to Caufeild, but won all our other games. The last game we played was my best game because I scored 2 baskets.

Today I went to the aquarium with my class to study interactions. I found out that a type of bird changes colour as it gets older because it eats a lot of shrimp. That bird changes to the colour of shrimp. I saw a parrot break open a nut to eat it. There were dolphins do tricks in the air and as an award, they got to fed fish by there trainers. Dung beetles eat poo and lay there eggs in it, then go back on to the sloth. Vampire bats lick the blood off of animals , they do not bite them. Fruit bats eat the juice of fruit such as oranges, etc.

I think the theory could be true because we can swim, float, and hold our breath under water. But I also think it isn’t true because we can’t breath under water or hold our breath that long. Elaine Morgan’s theory could be right but it also could be wrong. I think It could have happened at some point, but not for a really long period of time. I think it did happen at some point. The fact that we have blubber and can swim and breath under water could mean that at some point we lived under water.
